The Nashville Humane Association (NHA), incorporated in 1946 to protect the well-being of animals in Davidson County, is one of the oldest service organizations in Nashville. The roots of NHA can be traced back to a society founded in 1887 to protect children from inhumane working conditions and draft horses from mistreatment.

Why we love them? At Nashville Humane Society, they allow for you to visit during open hours of operation and walk their dogs up for adoption in their fenced in backyard. It’s an amazing way to give back even if you have a couple hours of your time to give.

Crossroads has a deep love and appreciation for two-legged and four-legged members of our community and work hard to better the lives of both through the healing power of the human-animal bond.

Why we love them? Crossroads has three programs: Caring Connections, Crossroads Pets | Shop & Adopt, and Affordable Housing for Young Adults. All proceeds from their retail store and professional grooming services go back into supporting their mission of improving the lives of the youth and animals.

LAFS Pet adoption

Love at First Sight! is a puppy and kitten adoption center located right in the heart of Music City, Tennessee.  Since 1995 they have adopted over 8,500 pets to loving homes and families in Nashville while emphasizing the importance of responsible pet ownership. Started by two Nashville veteraniarians were tired of seeing so many stray and abandoned animals. The majority of LAFS pets are acquired from families throughout Tennessee who have had an unexpected litter as well as local animal shelters who we help assist with the overflow of puppy and kitten litters.

Why we love them? All of the puppies and kittens are carefully examined by the veterarians of VCA Murphy Road Animal Hospital prior to being accepted for adoption. Once they are accepted, they are vaccinated with all the necessary vaccines, treated for internal/ external parasites, bathed with medicated shampoos, fed, and loved until their forever owner arrives!
